Here's a fun throwback video and blog from our trip to California last spring! Lindsay and her family have been huge fans of "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" for a really long time which they introduced to Jonas!
We thought it'd be really fun to go to Cabazon and see the filming location of the dinosaurs with Lindsay's sister Kelsey...and we liked to call it our BIG ADVENTURE! It was more like a day trip, but you get the point.
First stop was at Ruby's Diner for lunch but as good as their shakes are we didn't have desert there, oh no...why?
Because right across the street is THE BEST MILKSHAKE place on the planet!!! (In our humble opinion) Hadley Fruit Orchards started out as a road side stand in 1931 and has grown to a wonderful farmers market and the best date shakes you ever did taste!
Next, onto the DINOSAURS! Claiming to be the "world's largest dinosaurs" Mr. Rex and Ms. Dinny have been a popular roadside attraction since the 1970s and were created by a Knott's Berry Farm sculptor, Claude K. Bell, to attract customers to his Wheel Inn Cafe.
Both the dinosaurs and the cafe were used as filming locations in Tim Burton's "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" (1985) and fans of this cult classic have loved visiting ever since! Sadly, the cafe is no longer open but you can go inside the dinosaurs!
We had a blast going on our little adventure together here and we hope you enjoy our silly video, we bet you'll get a good laugh at our ridiculous shenanigans of dancing to Tequila in front of the dinosaurs and our pretty poor attempts at quoting the movie, but hey, we're nerds and we had fun!
