D23 EXPO 2015

Going to the D23 Expo was a long awaited day for us since Jonas bought the tickets as our Christmas present since we knew we'd be moving to California in the new year!
DAY 1: The first thing we headed to was the "Mousequerade" costume contest which was loads of fun to see! It blew our minds how creative and skilled the contestants were and our favorite (the Matterhorn Yeti) won the grand prize!
We spent most of the first day just trying to find our way around and walking the show floor where there was so many awesome things to see!
DAY 2: Disneybounding as Jack Skellington and a retro Snow White, we knew our Saturday would be devoted to the "Once Upon a Time" panel that evening so we spent a lot of time in lines.
We still found time to walk the show floor a little, see some friends, and take photo booth pictures!
How exciting that they're building a Pirates of the Caribbean land at the upcoming Shanghai Disneyland!
DAY 3: The Silly Symphony concert was a real highlight of the weekend, it was the first time ever a live orchestra played alongside these classic musical cartoons!
Even though we never went to any of the "big" panels where lots of exciting Disney news was announced (but seriously we weren't going to sleep overnight!) we still got to see some sneak peaks of the upcoming films "Moana" and "Gigantic" which we are so excited about!
We hope you enjoyed coming along with us at the expo, it was a wonderful place for Disney fans to come together and there was certainly something for everyone there to enjoy! We hope we'll be able to go to the next one and maybe even cosplay!

August 19, 2015

This was our first year at the D23 Expo, which is a convention in Anaheim every 2 years and is the ultimate Disney fan event!!! You can see our full post about the expo HERE (coming soon) but we wanted our first post to be dedicated to our favorite show of all time...ONCE UPON A TIME!!!
We spent most of our time on the second day of the expo to making sure we would get into the panel that evening at 6pm. After waiting in a very long line to get a StagePass when we first arrived we could relax a bit knowing we had a guaranteed seat for the panel!
We looked at the merchandise and vendors on the show floor and were happy to see 2 booths next to each other with Once Upon a Time merch and decorations! To be honest, it was seriously lacking and we were a little sad that there wasn't more than t-shirts and posters though there were some cool pocket mirrors, but a little out of our price range.
As we continued to meander around the show floor we saw a crowd gathering around the ABC studios booth and overheard someone say that Ginnifer Goodwin and Lana Parrilla were coming out soon...*commence fangirling* the security shouted that they wouldn't be stopping to sign or take photos with fans and would be heading straight through. A few minutes later they emerged and we couldn't believe we were seeing our Queen Regina and Snow White in real life!
Earlier in the day we saw that Lana was taking over @entertainmenttonight's Instagram at D23 so we started to realize they were going through the show floor for a few quick selfies for that purpose, which we later saw on IG!!! Crazy that we have a video + photo of our own taken at this very moment!!!
Interestingly enough, we had been looking at the art of Eric Goldberg just a few hours before this and Lindsay had taken a photo with the Snow White illustration herself!!!
Of course they had to stop for a photo op at the Zootopia exhibit since Ginny is voicing the rabbit "Judy Hopps", which is cute why Lana said on ET "How lucky am I? I get 3 Ginny's!"
All of this probably only lasted less than 10 minutes and they disappeared behind stage again. We couldn't believe what we had just witnessed and the cool part was there was a small group of us ONCERS that followed them to the different photo spots but no one was shouting or anything at them. What it felt like was a very special moment that we got to watch and see that they're Disney nerds just like us!
It was right after this that we realized we needed to head upstairs to the line and wait for the panel!!! We weren't sure how packed it might be since we had only seen a few other Oncers at D23 but it was a full house! The energy in the air was electric and we gasped at the first sighting of the Season 5 #DarkSwan official poster on the screens!
The panel was called "An Evening With Snow White & The Evil Queen" and the creators Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz...but there was a guest surprise from Josh Dallas!!! They took a "audience question" and he had a Jango Fett helmet on and faked a really funny kind of English accent and asked Ginnifer, "Who is your favorite character on the show?" to which she replied Rumpelstiltskin and then Josh ripped off the helmet in shock and the crowd went wild!!! They brought him on stage and there was a "Snowing" kiss...if you didn't know that Snow White and Prince Charming are married in real life?!? Magic!
They debuted a behind the scenes and blooper real that will be released on DVD soon AND a sneak peak from Season 5 of #DARKSWAN that left us wondering, where IS Emma?!?
We recorded some highlights of the panel which you can watch below which include some of our favorite moments of the cast sharing their Disney/Disneyland favorites which made us feel like we were all just a bunch of Disney fans in a room hanging out together!
We don't only love Once Upon a Time because of it brings to life our favorite fairytale characters with a twist but this show has shown us how to find hope in the darkest of times, that everyday can be an adventure, and that true love is magic! If you're a fellow Oncer, comment below who is your favorite character and why?!

Midsummer Magic

It is not a myth that the charming sun is in love with the most handsome guy on the sky, the moon! It is all a true story who involves not only happiness but also a real dose of sadness. If you ever noticed that some raindrops feels warmer than others you know what I am talking about.
The sun cries and her tears are warm and feels like summer rain. She cries because she can never see her true love. When she sets every night the moon rises on the other side, but the only thing he sees is the magnificent colours she left behind.
After a very long time and many years of crying the Creator of all things decided to bless them with one special night. He saw that their love was pure and one of a kind so it turned out to be a night called "Midsummer".
Summer solstice is the most magical night in the whole history. A night filled with love and happiness. A night when the sun is allowed staying up a little bit longer so that she can be with the love of her life, the moon.
You will see them come alive as two human beings, dancing in the forest the whole night long. The moon as a prince dressed in a white glowing tunic, and the sun as a beautiful princess wearing her most wonderful white dress, with a crown of her favourite flowers on her head.
They will dance with joyful hearts and only have eyes for each other. As they kiss, tiny glowing fairy bees will be born around them which will become real stars in the sky as they get older. The whole forest comes alive and the creatures of the day meet all the creatures of the night in a magical banquet. There is no fear in any ones mind because love and friendship is the centre of this special night.

After hours of dance and joy, the moon have to continue his nightly routines and say goodnight to his wonderful bride for this time. Their eyes are filled with thanksgiving and the whole creation praise the Creator because He is good. The memories and joy will last till next year when they meet again. They will wait for each other, as a prince and princess they will meet again, deep in the magic forest.
True love warms frozen fingers, it shines through all dark nights. It's one true love which is worth waiting for.

August 9, 2015

HELLO CALIFORNIA!!! In our last monthly vlog + blog post we said bye for now to Sweden after living there for most of the first 3 years of our married life. Our first full day in California was on July 1st so here is some of our adventures from our first month living in America together!
It was pretty awesome timing that we got to celebrate our first 4th of July together in our very first week in California. You can see more of our Independence Day festivities HERE!
A few days after we landed we got the most amazing surprise of being invited to a birthday party at DISNEYLAND!!! It was such a joy to get to see the Diamond Celebration 60th anniversary decorations...
...and be apart of "The Little Mermaid" UNDER THE SEA DisneyBound group! We had the best time celebrating our lovely friend Sid's special day and you can see more from our Disneyland trip HERE!
After all the holiday and birthday fun things settle down a little bit and the reality of our move started to set in. In the beginning our minds still thought we were on a vacation since we had visited CA a few times when we lived in Sweden.

Moving overseas is always a very stressful and emotional thing and we sure have had our fair share of it while adjusting to living in a new country and city. Even though Lindsay is a California native it hasn't felt like "moving back" but just simply moving, especially since moving to a new county.
Something we learned to do in Sweden to make the best of hard situations is to go out and explore your new area! There's so much to see even right in your "own backyard" and sometimes you might just happen upon how we stumbled upon this classic car show on the historic Main Street (est. 1874) in Garden Grove...
...or looking in your local newspaper to find fun events for free!
We had a lovely Sunday outing to The Bradford House in Placentia.
We so enjoyed touring this beautiful 1902 Victorian mansion and learning about the pioneering family who built it and made their fortune in the citrus industry.
Revisiting familiar places can also be equally as fun! We had a most delightful rainy afternoon at the Knott's Bery Farm California Market Place poking around in the shops and having a nice lunch.
Lindsay went with her mom and sister for a "girls day" at the Huntington Gardens & Library! It felt as if we had tripped into a fairytale, and the rain certainly added to the dreamy effect.
The girls went for afternoon tea in the Rose Garden for Lindsay's sister's birthday!
The estate not only hosts several botanical gardens but extensive art gallery collections, but we only had time to explore the European library.
The Huntington is a bit pricey but so worth it if you're in Los Angeles, plus if you time it right you might be able to go on one of their free days! That's what we're hoping to do in September so Jonas can see this beautiful place!
We got to explore the Balboa village together since Lindsay had a hair appointment in Newport Beach (where she chopped off her long locks which you can see HERE)
Established 1906-Isn't it charming?
Now, we realize we've just shown a bunch of pretty pictures and not gone into all the difficulties of moving and adjusting to living in a new country because we plan to do a series about our moving abroad experiences, since we've now done it twice!
We've been experiencing loads of (reverse) culture shock but taking in simple beautiful moments like sea gull footprints in the sand and a beautiful California beach sure helps ease the transition.
We sure hope you enjoy coming along with us in this new chapter of our lives living in California, we look forward to continue bringing you along on our tales!

"The Little Mermaid" DisneyBound Group!

DISNEYLAND!!! That was our reactions when our sweet friend Sidonie invited us to her birthday party at the happiest place on earth! But this wasn't just any ordinary birthday party because Sid is no ordinary lady! Having Jamaican roots herself, she planned the theme to be centered around her Sebastian inspired DisneyBound outfit so thus formed the UNDER THE SEA "The Little Mermaid" birthday party!
If you're not familiar with what "disneybounding" is, it's basically a really fun way to play dress up at Disneyland without being in a costume. Choose a Disney character and put together an outfit from your every day kind of clothing inspired by them, it's so much fun, and taking photos with your character IN character is always a must!
How cute is this photo of Sid (Sebastian) Chris (Ariel) WITH the little mermaid herself, giving fishy faces!
We found out only a few days after we moved to California from Sweden that she'd love for us to come as Flotsam & Jetsam. We didn't have much time to put together what we really wanted but we were happy with what we found out Ross (of all places) and some DIY! Plus, it's really HARD to find clothing that match those sneaky eels.
When we lived in Sweden we saw a lot of creative Disneybound groups on Instagram and YouTube it was a blast finally being apart of one! Here's Sid's hot crustacean band members + links to their social media (all such talented wonderful people!):
Sidonie: @siddielove
Chris: @cryanmfa
Ursula: @cassiewanda/@glimmerwood (She has an Etsy shop where she makes whimsical and fantasy inspired costumes, accessories, and wigs!)
After our time riding Ariel's Under Sea Adventure ride we headed into Disneyland and were blown away by all the BEAUTIFUL sparkly diamond celebration decorations!
Disneyland is looking amazing in her 60th year and it was so fun seeing all the new additions for the celebration, including the new fireworks show and parade...AMAZING!!!
But of course it's always just as fun to go on one of the classic rides, such as "Dumbo The Flying Elephant" which is one of the original attractions to open in 1955 with the park (though it's been updated a few times).
As the sunset, two REAL LIFE MERMAIDS joined our
Hot Crustacean Band! It was a joy to meet instafriends Nina (@neverland_mermaid/Blog) & Traci (@tracihines/Youtube) in real life, they're too fun and talented!
It was truly a treat to spend a whole day with the amazing husband & wife team, Sid & Chris! Oh, did we forget to mention that they are musical theater actors, musicians, singers, and all around talented, warm, caring, and pretty much the coolest couple you'll ever meet!

They have an Etsy shop (Your Cosplay Closet) where they make Disney inspired apparel (yep, that amazing Sebastian romper you've been eying this whole time was made by them!) AND you must check out their YouTube channels (Sidonie Smith, Christopher Ryan, The Stage Whisperer), because if you haven't heard them sing together...well, you're missing out on something so magical and rare in this world!
True love & friendship really are magical! We were so blessed to be apart of the "Under The Sea" birthday adventure and we hope you enjoy coming along with us in our vlog from the day!
